Pennsylvania – Even more reports are coming in about scam phone calls, some of which can be very convincing.

A Grampian woman says she recently received two scam calls. In one, the caller claimed to be from Microsoft. They wanted her checking account number and also said they would need access to her computer to fix it.

The Grampian woman says she also received a call from someone saying they were from the IRS.

 

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK: JANE GEARHART

Clearfield, PA – 62-year-old Jane Gearhart of Clearfield is the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week. She is wanted for failure to appear in court on DUI and assault charges.

On Christmas of 2017, police were called out to a home in Clearfield home. The woman at the home said that she had been allowing Gearhart and another individual to stay at her house. However, a fight broke out when the woman confronted Gearhart about using drugs.

 

PUNXSY WOMAN FACES CHILD ENDANGERMENT FOR UNSAFE HOME

Punxsutawney, PA – A Punxsutawney woman is facing child endangerment charges after police reportedly found the family was living in unsafe conditions.

Police came to the Marvin Street home of 23-year-old Samantha Cochran on Jan. 27 for a welfare check.

Police found that six adults and one child were living in the home. The home was heated with a wood burner, which filled the house with smoke and was kept with the burner’s door open where the child could have easily been injured.

DuBois, PA – The shelves at the DuBois Salvation Army food pantry are getting bare, and that can mean trouble for the more than 40 families who receive help each month.

People often are more willing to donate during what’s called “the Giving Season,” around Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, donations taper off at the start of the new year, but the need for food remains the same.

FATHER OF ABUSED 3-WEEK-OLD GIRL SENTENCED

Osceola Mills, PA – The Osceola Mills father who was accused of abusing his then 3-week-old daughter in February of last year has now been sentenced to state prison.

33-year-old Aaron Mills and the baby’s mother, 23-year-old Stephanie McGuire, were both charged after their daughter was found with two broken legs, broken ribs, severe diaper rash, and other internal injuries.

Both parents took a guilty plea. Mills was the first to be sentenced and received 15 to 40 years in state prison.

 

THREATENING GRAFFITI CAUSES LOCKDOWN AT CLEARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL

Clearfield, PA – The Clearfield High School was on lockdown yesterday after threatening graffiti was found in one of the school’s bathrooms.

Police and a K-9 unit searched the school but found no evidence that the threat had been legitimate.

Lawrence Township Police came to the school again later in the day for an assembly where the chief spoke to the students about the consequences of making these kinds of threats.

 

CURWENSVILLE GARAGE FIRE RULED AS ARSON

Curwensville, PA – A garage was intentionally lit on fire early yesterday morning in Curwensville.

Fire crews were called out to the garage along State Street just after 1 a.m.

They found that the fire had been set from the inside of the garage.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to call either Curwensville Borough Police or State Police in Ridgway.

PUNXSUTAWNEY MAN FACES ASSAULT CHARGES FOR BAR FIGHT

Punxsutawney, PA – A Punxsutawney man is facing assault charges after a bar fight.

32-year-old Justin Juliette is accused of choke slamming another man onto the bar one night in early January.

Witnesses also say he slammed the man’s head into a radiator and then onto the floor, causing him to lose consciousness for a short time. The victim was later taken to the hospital by his parents.

Juliette’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for today.
