Art Walk on the Block 2018

DuBois, PA – This Saturday in Downtown DuBois, it’s a chance to check out the amazing work of local artists at the annual Art Walk on the Block.

At least 21 different stops will be spread out at businesses on Brady Street and Long Avenue. Continue reading for the full map and schedule of events.

Chuck Krouse

Charles O. “Chuck” Krouse, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 29 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A memorial service for Chuck Krouse will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Brockway Presbyterian Church at 817 Main Street, Brockway.

The Baronick Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.







 

RIDE FOR A WISH AT RATHMEL RUN IN REYNOLDSVILLE

Reynoldsville, PA – Get outdoors this weekend, get muddy, and help grant the wishes of kids dealing with life-threatening illnesses through Make-A-Wish.

The 9th Annual Olympic Club ATV Ride for a Wish will be held this Saturday at Rathmel Run Hunting Preserve in Reynoldsville.

The fee is $25 per ATV (a driver and one rider), then $5 for each additional rider. The ride starts at 9 a.m. at the Rathmel Run Hunting Preserve in Reynoldsville.

 

DRUGS FOUND DURING BROOKVILLE TRAFFIC STOP

Brookville, PA – Two women are facing charges after police found drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Brookville.

Officers pulled over the vehicle on Friday for an equipment violation, but saw that the driver had two straws with white powder in them, along with a pill crusher.

The passenger had a variety of paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

The two women involved remain unnamed by police at this time.

 

STATISTICS FROM MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND CRASHES

Pennsylvania – Statistics from state police for this year’s Memorial Day travel weekend show about the same numbers of crashes and injuries as last year.

Troopers investigated 787 traffic crashes during this year’s four-day holiday driving period from May 25 to May 28, as compared with 757 crashes investigated by state police during the same time last year.

The crashes this year resulted in 183 injuries, up slightly for the 178 injuries for the 2017 Memorial Day Weekend.

 

DRUGS BEING SOLD BY BOY UNDER 18 IN BROOKVILLE

Brookville, PA – A boy was caught selling drugs in Brookville on Friday.

Police got a phone call with a tip that a drug deal was taking place on Crestwood Circle around 2 p.m.

They pulled over Thomas Zerbe of Reynoldsville, who is accused of buying drugs from a minor.

Because the dealer is under the age of 18, he was not named.

Both of them were arrested and will be charged with several offenses.

 

GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE IN WESTERN PA

Pennsylvania – As gas prices in Western Pennsylvania continue to rise, the national average is steadying.

Gas prices in Western Pennsylvania have gone up five cents over the week to $3.152 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

Gas prices are as much as a nickel more expensive on the week across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region (Pennsylvania, +3 cents).  Inventories increased by a substantial 2 million barrels on the week – the largest add of any region according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Russell F. Knapp, age 65 of DuBois, passed away on Sunday, May 27 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Family and friends of Russell Knapp will be received on Saturday, June 2 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in DuBois.

Funeral services for Russell Knapp will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in DuBois.

Charlotte Bell

Charlotte L. Bell, age 87 of Reynoldsville, passed away on Monday, May 28 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

Family and friends of Charlotte Bell will be received on Thursday, May 31 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium in DuBois.

Funeral services for Charlotte Bell will be held on Friday, June 1 at 1 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home.
