NAFCO FILM SCREENING REEFER MADNESS
April 20 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
A colorized version of the classic 1936 propaganda film “Reefer Madness” is being shown on 4-20, 2018 at the Reitz Theater in DuBois at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Northern Appalachian Film Collective’s (NAFCo) Monthly Film Festival Series.
The film revolves around the melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try marijuana—from a hit and run accident, to manslaughter, suicide, attempted rape, hallucinations, and descent into madness due to marijuana addiction.
Originally titled Tell Your Children, producer Dwain Esper, re-cut the film for distribution on the exploitation film circuit beginning in 1938–1939.
On May 18th the film “A Wish for Giants” by Indiana filmmaker Aaron Dunbar is scheduled with part of the proceeds going to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and on June 15th the film “Potential Inertia” by Oil City filmmaker Matt Croyle is being shown.
