police cuffs officers fight charged

Curwensville, PA – Curwensville has a new chief of police after Chief Dave Johnson retired.

Johnson had worked for 25 years with the Curwensville Borough Police.

Mark Kelly takes over as the new chief. Kelly has worked for Curwensville Police Department for years and was the only full-time officer since 2017.

He was one of the three officers furloughed in 2016 when the borough’s dire financial situation forced them to make cuts. He came back early last year to prepare for Chief Johnson’s retirement.

Since then, Curwensville has hired a second part-time officer.
