DuBois, PA – Even though it’s a slim chance that a small casino would move into the area, the Sandy Township Supervisors have prohibited any small casinos from opening now that the new Pennsylvania gambling laws are in effect.

The supervisors voted that no small casino, which was defined as an establishment with 300 to 700 slot machines and up to 50 table-based games, could open in Sandy Township.

Supervisor Mark Sullivan was the only vote against the resolution.

Sandy Township Manager Dave Monella was approved the draft an ordinance to allow elder cottages in the township. The cottages would be a tiny home that could be rented and placed on the property of family to keep their older relatives closer to home instead of at a nursing home facility. Although the ordinance will be written, it could still be several weeks until it gets put to a vote.
