PREVENTING SUMMER LEARNING LOSS

kids learning summer

Pennsylvania – What have your kids been doing this summer? Hopefully, along with all of the fun they’re having, they’re still continuing to learn.

However, David Crusoe from the Boys and Girls Club of America says that most kids lose some of the skill, like math and reading, over the summer.

The nearest Boys and Girls Club is in St. Marys, but you can also check your local library, YMCA, or parenting group for other great activities to keep your child’s brain working over the summer.

1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM AT LOCAL LIBRARIES

Josiah Mengle Memorial Library 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Brockway, PA – Congratulations to Josiah for completing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at Mengle Memorial Library! Josiah read 1,000 books in a little over one year!

Early literacy is so important for children.  If a child enters school having already experienced listening to and looking at books as an enjoyable activity, they are more likely to start school ready to learn.

That’s why the 1,000 Books program was created.
