CCAAA Coalport senior citizens grads May 1

Clearfield County, PA – Senior citizens in Clearfield County recently got some tips on healthy eating, staying fit, organizing their medications, communicating, and reducing stress.

Although this previous Chronic Disease Self-Management Class in Coalport is already completed, there are more free classes on the way for other locations, all of them offered by the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging for people over 55.

PRINTMAKING CLASS WITH WINKLER ART GALLERY

Come to the Winkler Education Center to learn the fine art of printmaking with Christion Iraca!

The class is held on Saturday, May 26 from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the Winkler Art Gallery and Education Center.

Space is limited, and children must me accompanied by an adult.

$10 per session.

NATIONAL LEARN TO SWIM DAY: THE BENEFITS OF SWIMMING

Pennsylvania – Do you know how to swim? Saturday, May 19 is National Learn to Swim Day, and a new national survey finds many parents do not fully understand all the benefits children receive from swimming.

Three-time Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel has won a total of nine medals in major international competition, four gold, one silver and four bronze.

The Clearfield Center for Active Living, in partnership with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), is offering area individuals aged 55 and older the opportunity to take AARP Driver Safety Courses.  The classroom courses were developed by AARP to help drivers remain safe on today’s roads while providing the bonus of a three-year discount on the course graduates’ car insurance.

All automobile insurance companies conducting businesses in Pennsylvania are required to provide a premium discount to graduates of the Driver Safety Program who are 55 years of age and older.

Lifelong Learning Institute Presents, “All That Jazz…and More!”

Interested in learning something new? The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., in collaboration with Lock Haven University Clearfield, announces a musical program offered through the Clearfield Community Lifelong Learning Institute. This is a free program.

All That Jazz…..and More!:  The Lock Haven University jazz ensemble will play a variety of jazz standards and jazz rock tunes including compositions by Herbie Hancock,

 

5-WEEK QUIT SMOKING CLASS AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER

A Smoking Cessation Class will start Wednesday, April 4, at the Parkside Community Center, 120 W. Park Ave., DuBois, and run each Wednesday until May 2. Classes are from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Hosted by The Lung Center of Penn Highlands DuBois, this 5-week group smoking cessation class is for anyone who uses tobacco and wants to stop for good. Led by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, classes meet once a week for one hour for a total of five weeks.
