SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING MAN IN LANDFILL COLLAPSE

Fox Township, PA – The search continues in neighboring Elk County for a man who went missing after Wednesday’s landfill collapse. A portion of the Greentree Landfill near Kersey collapsed Wednesday afternoon around 2:30.

UPDATE: Radar equipment found an object the size of the compactor beneath the trash. It will take some time to dig into the landfill and extract the compactor.

The missing man had been operating a compactor, in which rescue crews believe he may still be stuck inside.
 

ROUTE 119 CRASH ON WEDNESDAY SERIOUSLY INJURES TWO DUBOIS WOMEN

Henderson Township, PA – Two DuBois women were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on State Route 119 in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

59-year-old Randy Mann of Westfield struck the car of 20-year-old Sierra Shenk of DuBois while Shenk was attempting to make a left turn. Both Shenk and Mann were taken to Penn Highlands DuBois for minor injuries.

POWERBALL TICKET WORTH $1 MILLION SOLD IN INDIANA COUNTY

ndiana, PA – A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Indiana County on Wednesday. The PA Lottery Powerball ticket correctly matched all five white balls (14-20-42-49-66) but not the red Powerball #5, which means the owner of the ticket will win $1 million.

It was sold at the Giant Eagle on Ben Franklin Road in Indiana, and the store earns $5,000 for selling the ticket.

LANDFILL COLLAPSED IN ELK COUNTY

Kersey, PA – In neighboring Elk County tragedy struck when a landfill collapsed leaving one worker trapped. It happened Wednesday afternoon just before 2:30pm near Kersey at the Greentree Landfill.

Sources are reporting that the man who was trapped was operating a compactor when the collapsed happened. Eye witnesses say the compactor slid down the landfill. There were four additional men standing next to the compactor who were all able to escape safetly. Multiple fire companies and helicopter search teams were called in to assist.
