PAIR OF WOMEN FOLLOWED BY TWO MEN IN DUBOIS WALMART

Sandy Township, PA – A pair of women say that two men were following them around the DuBois Walmart on Monday, Nov. 27.

The women said that when they left the store, the men also began following them as they drove around.

After they got far enough away and lost sight of the men, they returned home and called Sandy Township Police.

UPCOMING REAL ID LICENSES REQUIRE MANY DOCUMENTS

Harrisburg, PA – Even though it will be more than year from now until the Real ID-compliant driver’s licenses are available, Penn DOT is urging drivers to start getting ready for it. The new ID cards will become available spring of 2019, but they won’t be required until October of 2020.

To switch over to the new Real ID-compliant license, PennDOT has to see all of the following documents: proof of identity (such as your birth certificate or passport),

 

DOG LICENSES FOR 2018

Clearfield and Jefferson Counties, PA – Dog licenses will go on sale this Friday for 2018. Remember, any dog three months or older must have a license in Pennsylvania by Jan. 1 of each year.

An annual license is $8.50, or you can get a lifetime license for $51.50. If the dog is spayed or neutered, the annual fee is $6.50 and the lifetime fee is $31.50.

Discounts are available to older adults and people with disabilities.

 

CLEARFIELD COUNTY SAYS DRUG EPIDEMIC TO BLAME FOR BUDGET DEFICIT

Clearfield, PA – Clearfield County says the drug epidemic is part of the reason for the county’s budget deficit.

Court costs in Clearfield County have risen dramatically, and there is now a $969,000 deficit in the proposed 2018 budget.

In addition to rising court-related costs, the county’s budget has also seen more spending at the jail and for Child and Youth Services.

However, the commissioners do not have any plans to raise taxes in Clearfield County.

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY NOT PLANNING TO INCREASE TAXES

Jefferson County, PA – Jefferson County residents won’t see any increase in their county taxes. The Jefferson County Commissioners decided to use part of their general fund to balance out the 2018 budget.

They will use $422,999 to balance the budget so there is no need to raise the millage rate. The tax mills will remain at 12.

That is not to say that your specific city or township will not raise their taxes if you live in Jefferson County,

Curwensville, PA – More details are emerging about a Curwensville couple who was accused of selling drugs and having explosives and a sawed-off shotgun in their home with five children.

37-year-old Wayne Bambarger and 32-year-old April Bambarger are facing multiple drugs and weapons charges.

These charges include the manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intentional possession of a controlled substance, corruption of minors, making repairs or selling and offensive weapon,

MORE CRASHES BUT FEWER FATALITIES OVER THANKSGIVING

Harrisburg, PA – Pennsylvania State Police made more traffic stops over this year’s Thanksgiving holiday weekend in comparison to 2016, but there were fewer fatal crashes and injuries than last year.

From Nov. 22 to 26, state police investigated 931 crashes, which is up by about 5.4 percent from last year. They made 629 DUI arrests and issued 15,912 speeding tickets, both of which have increased from 2016’s statistics.

However, state police responded to four fatal crashes with four deaths,

Harrisburg, PA – Two men who coerced six victims into prostitution with the false promise of easy money and then used drugs, violence and threats to control them have been arrested for human trafficking.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office worked closely with the Pennsylvania State Police and other law enforcement agencies to build the prostitution and trafficking case.
