Wayne L. “Horkey” Shaffer, age 82 of St. Marys, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
Family and friends of Wayne Shaffer will be received on Friday, Feb. 2 at the Adamson Funeral Chapel in DuBois.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel.

Clearfield, PA – Three people are facing charges and the investigation is continuing after a 9-month-old baby tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines.
On Jan. 23 at their home along Montgomery Run Road in Clearfield, the little girl had been fed a bottle and put in her crib for the night, but started vomiting and shaking.
The mother asked the baby’s father, 32-year-old Joshua Root, to take the baby to the hospital.
DuBois, PA – 21-year-old Carrie Bish of DuBois is the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week, wanted for failure to appear in court on theft and firearms charges.
In October of 2016, Bish and 20-year-old Hazen McCartney were allegedly found with drugs and a gun while walking around DuBois. Bish had been carrying a 38-caliber revolver in her purse. McCartney admitted that he had originally been carrying it but had put it in Bish’s purse to conceal it.
Lawrence Township, PA – A Clearfield man is in jail after he allegedly threatened a woman and police officers.
Police were responding to a domestic disturbance at a home along Valley View Drive in Lawrence Township on Monday.
The unnamed 33-year-old man reportedly had a gun and was threatening the woman. Police say he also threatened to shoot officers once they got to the scene.
The man was taken into custody without incident,
Brockway, PA – Someone used the personal information of a 49-year-old Brockway man.
Police say the man’s identity was used to acquire Pennsylvania Customer Assistance Program (PCAP) assistance from Penelec between Nov. 14 and Dec. 11.

DuBois, PA – The man accused of running over and killing a DuBois woman while driving a stolen vehicle has been sentenced to 20 to 40 years in state prison.
In August of 2015, the now 32-year-old Joshua Nelson allegedly stole a Marine Corps recruiter’s government vehicle, then struck and killed 61-year-old Betsy Andryka as she ran her lawnmower at her house on Brown Street. He reportedly also assaulted two women at a nearby home.
Clearfield and Jefferson Counties, PA – Dozens of crashes happened within the past few days, and more are likely on the way due to slippery travel conditions overnight.
Just yesterday afternoon, a tractor-trailer rolled over on eastbound Interstate 80 near Reynoldsville. It’s still unknown how severely the driver was injured.
A Cameron County teen is being charged for rear-ending another vehicle on Sunday afternoon on Route 219, near Brockway. The 17-year-old Emporium girl ran into the back end of the vehicle of 28-year-old Maria Foringer of Brockway,

Young Township, PA – An undercover drug sting in Jefferson County captured a man who had allegedly been selling crack cocaine.
34-year-old Keon Clark of Indiana, PA was officially arrested on Jan. 19, but the charges date back to an investigation in August of 2017.
Clark reportedly sold an eight ball, or 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, to a confidential informant for $250 during a sting in Young Township, Jefferson County.
Paint Township, PA – Two men have been arrested after they were allegedly stealing wire from Verizon telephone lines in Paint Township, Clarion County.
The manhunt lasted overnight from Sunday evening until Monday morning, with police scouring the nearby area with helicopters and on foot.
On Monday morning, 45-year-old Terry Fisher of Allegheny County was taken in custody. A short while later, 41-year-old Glenn Jeffries was also captured.
The two men are facing multiple charges,
Florence E. Wilson, age 99 of Treasure Lake, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation for Florence Wilson.
A memorial service for Florence Wilson will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium is in charge of the arrangements.
