DuBois, PA – This Friday, enjoy some fantastic food and music, and support Haven House, our local short-term homeless shelter in DuBois.
Because Haven House is made up of mostly volunteers, they need donations to help continue doing the great work that they do here in DuBois.
Performing Hearts is the annual concert and dinner to support the shelter. This year dinner will be served this Friday at 6 p.m. at Luigi’s Villa, followed by a concert featuring country and western music (Root2Fifth and Annie Morgan).
Tickets are $20 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under. Please call Haven House in advance and RSVP so they know how many people to expect.
Don Ostrom from Haven House says the shelter offers 30 to 45 days of housing for people in need, but it does much more than that.
Haven House’s mission is to provide a safe, encouraging atmosphere, food, lodging, and guidance for local residents facing homelessness. By removing the emotional burden and uncertainty of homelessness and requiring a disciplined effort, guests will be empowered to overcome the problem that brought them to Haven House and to regain their independence and self respect in their 30 day stay.
Haven House is located in DuBois and is within walking distance of employment services and on a bus route. They have 24/7 staffing.
People may be referred or can call (814) 371-0333. Haven House can accommodate 10 to 12 people. Their recidivism rate is less than 10% and most of our guests find employment within their 30 days of stay.
