Curwensville, PA – Residents from Park Avenue Towers recently participated in the CCAAA Chronic Pain Self-Management classes and gained more confidence in taking care of their health!

They completed six, 2 ½ hour weekly sessions discussing healthy eating, physical activity, medication, stress management, communication, problem solving, decision making, and working with their health care professionals.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions that helped them to build confidence in their abilities to manage their health and maintain active fulfilling lives.

 

CEO OF CCAAA NAMED TO PA’S ALZHEIMER’S TASK FORCE

Clearfield, PA – Kathleen Gillespie, the CEO of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, has been named to the Pennsylvania’s Alzheimer’s State Plan Task Force.

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging recently announced the formation of Pennsylvania’s Alzheimer’s State Plan Task Force. The task force was created to take a lead role in implementing and championing the goals and recommendations of Pennsylvania’s State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.

SENIOR CITIZENS LEARN WITH AREA AGENCY ON AGING

CCAAA Coalport senior citizens grads May 1

Clearfield County, PA – Senior citizens in Clearfield County recently got some tips on healthy eating, staying fit, organizing their medications, communicating, and reducing stress.

Although this previous Chronic Disease Self-Management Class in Coalport is already completed, there are more free classes on the way for other locations, all of them offered by the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging for people over 55.

MAY IS OLDER AMERICANS MONTH FOR CLEARFIELD COUNTY

Older Americans Month Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging

Clearfield County, PA – The Clearfield County Commissioners declared that May 2018 was Older Americans Month for Clearfield County.

John A. Sobel, Antonio Scotto, and Mark McCracken signed the proclamation at their Clearfield County Commissioners planning meeting on May 1, 2018.

The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is celebrating Older Americans Month 2018 with a theme of: Engage at Every Age.

AGENCY ON AGING GETS TRAINING TO PREVENT FALLS

CCAAA Matter of Balance falls

Clearfield, PA – Would you know what to do if an elderly loved one falls and hurts themselves? Do you know how to make falls less likely for them to begin with?

Several members of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging got special training recently, called A Matter of Balance.

The program showed the employees the risk of falling but also practical things that older people can do to prevent falls.

The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging gave the resident a Chronic Disease Self-Management classes. They completed six, 2 ½ hour weekly sessions discussing healthy eating, physical activity, medication, stress management, communication, problem solving, decision making, and working with their health care professionals.

The CCAAA’s mission is to care for the elderly while maintaining their dignity. BLIZZARD BOXES GET PACKED FOR CLEARFIELD COUNTY MEALS ON WHEELS

Clearfield, PA – As the weather begins to change, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging is putting together their Blizzard Boxes.

These are non-perishable meals that are packaged and delivered to Meals on Wheels & More consumers at the onset of winter.

Consumers are encouraged to keep these meals on their shelf for those winter storm days when the Agency may be unable to deliver a hot meal.

SANDY TOWNSHIP CONSIDERING “ELDER COTTAGES”

Sandy Township

DuBois, PA – Sandy Township could be on its way to allowing “elder cottages” in residents’ backyards.

The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging wants to rent out a mobile pre-fabricated tiny house to families who want to keep their elderly loved one close to home.

The elder cottage would be installed in a yard, so that the person could remain independent but also would be close to family as an alternative to assisted living.
